Superb sounds!!

After an afternoon rub at the Main Rubbing Beach, the A30s, A42s and the I15s have headed back west to Robson Bight. They are now all having a fishy dinner in the reserve and can be heard on our Critical Point hydrophone.

Some of the A30s, A42s and I15s had rub at the rubbing beach. Now they look like going back to the west.

The I15s went into Johnstone Strait through Blackney Pass. They went east, met up with the A30s in the Bight. Now A30s and the I15s are on the way to the beaches. The A42s are little bit behind, just about to clear from Critical point.

Orcas hunting fish.

We started hearing the echo location on the Critical Point hydrophone! Must be from the A30s. Sounds like they are in Robson Bight. What a exciting day!

Distant calls audible.

The A42s were reported off Bauza cove right at the shoreline, heading for Beaver Cove at 12:25pm. At the same time, "Naiad" with the I15s reported they were at Double Bay on Hanson Island. We lost track of the A30s after they passed Rubbing Beach to the west.

We started picking up the I15 calls on the Flower Island hydrophone! They are getting closer. We heard the A30 calls on the Rubbing Beach hydrophone then we found many small fins on the Rubbing Beach camera at 11:15am. They were off the shore, heading west.

Great news! We got a report of the I15s!! They were a mile east of Lizard Point on Malcolm Island, hugging the shoreline at 9:58am. Lance can identify the I4s. Sounds like it is very foggy out there too.

No orcas present.

Incoming! We got a report from Kate at Bere Point on Malcolm Island. At 7:55am a group of orcas headed east from Bere Point. She could see one male clean fin in the fog. No visibility in Blackney Pass at the moment. Hope we pick up their calls soon!

Distant calls audible.

We are hearing very distant calls on Rubbing beach hydrophone. Possibly the A30s and the A42s are going east in the strait.

Superb sounds!!

The A42's and A30's have been calling for many hours on Critical Point, without moving far from the Bight. They are slightly outside the bay now and their calls are echoing, we'll update you when we know where they're headed!
