No orcas present.

We had some chatty dolphins at 0430 this morning, but couldn't pull ourselves out of our cozy beds to check on their whereabouts:) Lots of snow here!

No orcas present.

It has been quiet here in terms of any cetacean movement. However, the local Thrushes, Northern Flicker's, Wren's, Red Crossbill's, Eagles and Heron's are keeping us very busy on these cold, sunny and snowy days.

More transients!!! They made a few calls on Flower Island but have gone quiet since...maybe they will come this way? We'll keep you posted!

The transients didn't come past the lab or make any more calls so we're not sure where they went.

Exciting morning here @ Orcalab! At 0933 I spotted 3 transients, 1 male & 2 females, heading South in Blackney Pass. When they were out of sight another female came around Burnt Point and made some very nice loud & clear calls on Local Left as she was heading South very fast to catch up with the others!!! They have now gone quiet.

Orcas near mics.

We had a few Transient calls this evening! However, they were so few and far in between that we couldn't get to the lab fast enough to figure out where they were calling. Christie and Jared reported that there were 11 transients in QCS earlier today! There was also a juvenile humpback heading west in Johnstone Strait...the first one we know of in this area in February!

Sorry we haven't been able to get the live audio up and running yet, we've had a lot of winter winds. But we did get a report today that two orca were spotted @1130 by the Wastell islands in Johnstone Strait but we have not heard any vocals.

There was some brief dolphin chatter in Johnstone Strait this evening. The wind has been persistent today and it looks as though it is here to stay for a couple of more days.
