Nick (BCX 0565) & Stripe (BCZ0004), the humpbacks, are heading east in Johnstone Strait. 10+ Dall's porpoise are foraging in Blackney Pass and very distant Pacific white-sided dolphins can be heard somewhere near Robson Bight. The day is shaping up to be very busy on the cetacean front! Leah 29 May 2012 17:59:17 PDT |
No calls but orcas nearby Christie reported the T36s & T99s hunting seals at Pearse Islands this morning. Unfortunately, they're not within hearing range of our network at the moment. Leah 29 May 2012 10:42:23 PDT |

Thanks to an entire team of North Island marine mammal folks, prawners and DFO a humpback was successfully disentangled from numerous prawn traps yesterday near Minstrel Island. It's a wonderful success to celebrate the cooperation of so many concerned individuals!

Distant calls audible. There are very distant calls in Johnstone Strait, so we're not sure who it is. There was a report of 18 transient's traveling west from Chatham Point this morning, so perhaps this is them!?! Leah & Marie 01 May 2012 20:59:50 PDT |
Orcas near mics. We're hearing a few transient calls in Robson Bight at the moment. Perhaps it is T020 & T021?!? Leah 01 May 2012 14:42:42 PDT |
No calls but orcas nearby Spotted T020 & T021 at Parson Island just before they headed out of view, as they made their way towards Johnstone Strait! Beautiful, calm seas out there today :) Leah 01 May 2012 13:55:34 PDT |
