The A30s and A42s crossed over from the Vancouver Island shore. They had turned at 10:16 between Blinkhorn and Little Kaikash and then began to angle out towards CP. They then came into Blackney pass and seem to be trying to come north.

Distant calls audible.
We started hearing calls on CP hydrophone. Skana who is with them reported that the whales were off Izumi at 8:55 am. Now we can see them on CP camera. Look like they are passing Kaikash Beach to the west, Vancouver Island side.

Such a lovely start to the day! First, Lucy's encounter with the feeding humpback in Blackney Pass and now the orcas returning from eastern parts of Johnstone Strait. Last night the A30s returned to the area and joined with the A42s in Johnstone Strait. Both groups headed east only to return again just a short while ago. They are now travelling west along the Cracroft Island side, already past Swaine Point. Just so lovely to hear the mix of calls on this bright morning!

The A30s kept going east. They passed off Rubbing beach to the east about an hour ago. We are not sure about where the A5 group who were west of the A30s earlier, they are quiet now.

Superb sounds!!
The A30's are in the Bight, calling loudly! Shortly behind them are some A5's. They sound excited, perhaps they are all gathering together tonight!
