That was lovely! Really the first sustained humpback calls in a long time! Must have been waiting for OrcaLive to return. :) The calls were on Flower Island.

No orcas present.

Very happy to announce that we have audio back! Our Internet is working once again. It was quite the task to solve the problem this time- the joy of living in a remote area and off the grid. Thanks must go to David and Brittney who were on hand to help with whatever was needed, Michael at Tranzeo Support who fielded numerous calls and questions and to David Howitt who came a long way to lend his assistance. We will give a brief summary soon of the recent whale activity in the area.

Great news! Our internet connection is back! Huge thanks to David Howitt for his heroic tree climbing and new radio installation yesterday, and to Tranzeo tech support for helping us think the problem through. Live audio streaming is now back, and we will continue to stream live video intermittently at http://orcalab.click2stream.com/

Performing maintenance

Sorry everyone, but our internet connection is still down & we're unable to stream live audio or video (for the moment). We're working on the problem, and hope to have a solution soon. Meanwhile, we appreciate your patience. Lately, we've seen seeing lots of humpbacks in Blackney Pass, and occasional Bigg's (transient) orcas. No resident orcas for some time now, which is unusual and probably reflects a poor chum salmon run. Hopefully, the orcas are finding their favourite fish elsewhere!
