Performing maintenance We are likely to lose power at CP today, which means we will lose our internet connection and live streaming will stop. Please excuse the interruption. We will resume live streaming as soon as weather conditions allow us to charge CP batteries. Many thanks to Magnum Energy for providing us with the ability to monitor CP battery state via our wireless network. OL crew 13 Dec 2012 07:06:25 PST |

Performing maintenance Sorry everyone, we have a problem with camera streaming, so the camera is off now. We will try to solve the problem & start camera streaming again as soon as possible. Meanwhile, please think about Corky & light a candle for her if you can. It's her sad capture anniversary day. OL crew 11 Dec 2012 09:44:05 PST |

Orcas near mics.
6 transient/Bigg's orca, including 1 male, 2 females and 3 juveniles, headed north in Blackney about and hour ago. They made a few calls on Parson Island before heading past. It looked as though they may have been sharing a meal as gulls swooped in behind them.

Boat noise There are transient/Bigg's orcas calling in Johnstone Strait at the moment. Earlier today while out performing maintenance we found the T002Cs and T123s as they joined together just east of CP. They traveled together, whilst vocalising, towards Robson Bight before returning to Blackney Pass and heading north just before dusk. They were harassing Freckles as they all got pushed north with the ebb tide. We are hoping s/he is okay. Moonstar, Flash and two other humpbacks were also visible in the Pass today. Moonstar & Ripple are rolling and lunge feeding in bait balls together while Freckles & Inuksuk zoom back and forth between their feed independently. Two more HB's headed north out of our view. Busy day in Blackney! Leah & Paul 23 Nov 2012 08:40:26 PST |
We can hear vocalisations from a humpback in Blackney Pass every once and a while. The storm has subsided and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful day! Leah 23 Nov 2012 07:33:52 PST |

Correction: Sorry I meant to say Freckles, not Twister. Leah 15 Nov 2012 21:47:36 PST |
Flash, Argonaut, Ripple, Twister & Moonstar could all be seen in feeding, resting & socialising in Blackney Pass today. Acoustically only a few vocals could be heard now & again. Leah & Paul 15 Nov 2012 21:40:42 PST |
Argonaut and Flash are rolling amongst sea lions off the Lab. We've turned the camera on as pec's, tails and heads continuously surface.! OL Crew :) 15 Nov 2012 12:50:48 PST |
