Performing maintenance

Our Internet is back! The A35s/73 and the A42s continued east from the east end of the Reserve after 5pm.

Performing maintenance

We are currently performing important maintenance work at the main lab, and as a result do not have the internet there. We'd like to apologise as this may mean you cannot hear sounds or view live footage from the home camera tonight. Hopefully we'll be back online tomorrow.

No orcas present.

Good morning! Last night the Boat Bay camp heard blows heading west between 11:30pm and Midnight. The A5 and A4 calls at this time had become more distant after the whales had parked off the Ecological Reserve area in the Strait. Boat Bay is across, on the Cracroft Island side, from Robson Bight. The whales, when they finally decided what to do must have turned and swung over closer to the Cracroft shoe and headed west. We did not hear them again until they were in Blackney Pass headed north to Blackfish. Two cruise ships passed in the same direction at the same time. We continued to record. The whales were not very vocal and it was hard to hear blows in the boat wake so it is not clear to us if both groups from the day before (A5s and A4s) were still together.

No orcas present.

No calls, but a beautiful calm morning. We currently have 3 humpbacks in Blackney Pass which we are trying to id now.
