Multiple pod calls audible.

Here is a bit of a summary: the A34s, I15s,A36s and a G1 group came into Johnstone Strait beginning just after 3pm. They all slowly went east until they got opposite the entrance to Blackney Pass. After a bit of milling and social activity the A34s split off and came into Blackney Pass at 5:48pm. They i15s half followed but turned back to the Strait. The A34s cleared our view into blackfish Sound at 6:13pm. By this time the others started to move eastward. The A36s, according to Marie, looked a bit torn and were still pointing at Blackney Pass while the i15s sorted themselves out. The G1 group stayed pretty much on the Vancouver Island side which was unfortunate as it was hard to id them so far away.

Distant calls audible.

Sounds like all the groups have gone into the Strait via Weynton Pass. We're hearing their distant calls on the Critical Point hydrophone.

We've just started hearing calls on the Flower Island hydrophone. Sounds like we have G-Gs, G-Is and A1s coming our way, a lot of whales! Thanks to Bill on the Naiad and Kate at Bere Point for the heads up!

No orcas present.
Today was all about sea lions and humpbacks and goodbyes. Jackie reported that Freckles who had been with Crescent is now hanging out with a new friend. Two orca were reported by James headed east from Bold head in the afternoon but we never saw them. A beautiful full moon rising caught our attention early evening. We thought of our friend Lisa who is on her way north by ferry and wondered if she was seeing the moon too. Today we said goodbye to Kirsty and wished her well on her journeys too! Thanks for all you hard work Kirsty!

No orcas present.

This afternoon the Lukwa reported that at 3:30pm there were orcas in Queen Charlotte Strait (out of our range) and that they were hearing Gclan calls. We are assuming that this may have been some of the I15s. Also Tide Rip reported that T20 and T21 were off Minstrel Island around 3pm. The humpbacks, Crescent and Freckles have been around today. Thanks to everyone for the reports.

Distant calls audible.

We've been hearing distant A1 calls on the Flower Island hydrophone, along with humpback sounds. It's possible the orcas who were in Johnstone Strait earlier this morning have headed north through Weynton Pass, though we're not sure.

It sounds like perhaps the same gang is back in town. We just started hearing distant I15 and A1 calls in Johnstone Strait. There is some boat noise as well.

The I1s and the A36s have been making their way east in Johnstone Strait all morning. They are now nearing Robson Bight. Re yesterday: We need to correct the reports that included the A30s. On review, the A30s were not there, just the A36s and the I15s. Sorry for the confusion.

We are hearing distant calls on Crpt. Assumably the A30s and the I15s made their way through Weynton Pass and are now travelling to the east in Johnstone Strait.

Distant calls audible.

The orcalab crew are awake on this dark morning to suddenly hear some midrange calls on Flower Island. They uttered a few calls and became quiet. We will continue to monitor whether the orcas decide to reveal their identity throughout the morning. Have a glorious breakfast.
