Performing maintenance
Our internet connection to the Lab is down again. Meanwhile, the Ds passed through Blackney Pass headed north around 12:30pm, they are now in Blackfish Sound.

No calls but orcas nearby
We have whales coming from both directions. Reports are surfacing about groups westbound in Johnstone Strait from the Bight/Boat Bay area and a group off the western end of Blackfish Sound.

Multiple pod calls audible.
Last night I made a typo and said groups were not (instead of now) entering Johnstone Strait! Sorry about that misleading report. This was when we were waiting for the last group to sort themselves out in Blackfish Sound and also head into Blackney Pass and into Johnstone Strait which they did starting around 2am. The progress was slow perhaps because the tide was ebbing. Throughout all of this movement we could hear the A30s, still in Johnstone Strait. The A23s and A25s were not as obvious but still in Johnstone Strait when last heard. But a while later the A30s were quite close to Robson Bight and very vocal. Lovely. Distant calls ended just before 5am. AND just now we can hear distant A30 (and A5?) calls off the east end of the Reserve. The groups that came in were we think the C10s, followed by the Bs and then possibly the C06s.

Superb sounds!!
As the A30s and A5s stayed in Johnstone Strait these Bs and Cs made their way into Blackney Pass and are not entering Johnstone Strait.
