Distant calls audible.
We have been listening to the groups gradually get more and more distant after they passed the east end of the Reserve. They all sound like they kept together as they travelled east.

Picking up A1 calls (?A30) & A4 (?A52) off the east end of the Reserve now. Still lots of boat noise but it has eased a bit in this area.

The calls are nice and the I15s and A5s made it back to the Robson Bight area BUT a tug is now heading east after transiting Blackney Pass. Sigh! nice while it lasted. By the way audio should be ok now as we fixed the power issue of earlier.

Superb sounds!!
Whew! The whales were certainly on a mission. Once they decided to head for Johnstone Strait they wasted little time. They passed the Lab on the very far side for the most part and then made a "B" line straight for CP. Some passed CP quite close and in a rush. Other were mid strait. But all head towards the Ecological Reserve. meanwhile the I15s and A23/25s who had slipped past Critical Point turned and are on their way back from the east end of the Reserve. They were spread out from mid strait to the Cracroft side. Soon a party, if not already. I hear there is a party at Boat Bay tonight too!

Multiple pod calls audible.
we are starting to hear the whales coming out of Queen Charlotte Strait. The A30s are quite vocal but we can hear G clan and other A1 as well. The A5s and I15s are still vocal in Johnstone Strait as well.

So much happening today and we have had to figure out a power issue. The A30s travelled finally through Blackney after stalling off the entrance to Blackney Pass and Crafroft Point for quite awhile. They jumped finally at the chance of the slack tide to get through Blackney. The other groups turned and are headed east again. The A23/25s turned east off CP well ahead of the others and got back to Critical Point before the others turned off the top end of Hanson Island. We have been also following the progress of the A34s in Queen Charlotte Strait. They turned back to hook up with a large group incoming. Their progress has been very slow. Perhaps they are sleepy, tuckered whales after a long journey. Hopefully, they will make it.

Superb sounds!!
The A30s have been angling toward Blackney Pass and are now beginning to enter from the south. We are also hearing fairly close range calls and echolocation in the Bight from the I15s.

No calls but orcas nearby
The A38 came up to Blackney Pass around 10:05am then headed back to the strait. Meagan HB at CP reported the A30s are off Little Hanson. Some of the I15s are off Big Bay. They are all foraging.

We have started hearing I15s and at least A1 calls on CRPT hydrophone at 3:35am. The calls are so faint but sounds like they are heading east in the Strait.
