Distant calls audible.

We heard a few "As" in Johnstone Strait just a short while ago.

Distant calls audible.

The I15s and the A30's slowly travelled north up Blackfish Sound against the flooding tide. The mist and twilight hid the orcas from our scope of view, however, we heard blows as the remaining sub-groups exited Blackfish into Weynton Passage.

Distant calls audible.

The whales (I15s and A30s) decided heading back west and can be heard on CP's hydrophone now. We're just about to have dinner... Will they show up again in Blackney Pass as they did before on the last 3 days to say "Bon appetit?"?

Almost 2 hours after they passed the Lab tha I15s and the A30s made their way to Critical Point where we can listen to their close and beautiful calls and some echo location as well.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A30's and the I15's came by heading south in Blackney Pass. Some lovely vocals and a nice live stream of them as they took their time passing, they are now slowly making their way over to CP.

The whales have actually gone a lot quieter since the excitement of getting together off the entrance to Blackney Pass. The dolphins as well. The I15s and the A30s are continuing west along the Big Bay. (Naiad and Tuan)

The I15s are coming west (Naiad) and are travelling with one of the A30s males. Meanwhile, we believe the other A30s are further west of that scene. The dolphins have been drawn in with the I15s who are now half way from Swaine Point to the Sophia Islands.

We finally figured out that the A30s are out there and headed to the east. meanwhile, we also heard calls on the rubbing beach and wonder if the I15s are coming from that direction.

Distant calls audible.

A short while ago we started to hear A1 calls in Johnstone Strait. These calls are off the entrance to Blackney Pass. It is zero/zero conditions so Mark is unable to see anything.

No orcas present.

The I15s are a tough act to follow! As far as we know the last distant calls we heard were around 9pm. They had been on CP meaning they had at least come into range of the CP hydrophone. They calls were always distant and faded off again leaving us to wonder if they kept going west or what? Foggy this morning so an additional handicap. The Knight inlet slide of late August is providing another challenge to the boats and the environment.
