Superb sounds!!
Busy,Busy,Busy! The A34s went north through Blackney Pass and are now moving into Blackfish Sound. The I15s have been pretty active at the rubbing beaches and in the distance we can hear the I31 type calls we heard before. The A30s are not far away too.

Orcas near mics. The A34s have arrived at the entrance of Blackney Pass, from the west. Meanwhile, 5 Biggs (transient) orcas area heading into the Strait, having passed south through Blackney Pass. Still orcas close to Critical Point. Helena 05 Sep 2012 19:30:24 PDT |
Superb sounds!! The A30s are very near Critical Point and the Bight. We are expecting the Gclan whales soon. Helena 05 Sep 2012 18:12:08 PDT |
Distant calls audible. There is a lot happening. The A30s went west along Hanson Island after A54 went back into the Strait. Other groups were travelling into Johnstone Strait and travelling east along the far shore. So far we have heard I15s in addition to the A30s. CetaceaLab let us know that part of the G17s (the remainder of the old G25 matriline) were in their area on September 3rd - the same day G17s were reported in this area. Orcas near mics. Interesting, A54 and A93 came into Blackney from Johnstone Strait, got half way and then thought better of it and turned back to the others in the entrance of Blackney Pass. Helena 05 Sep 2012 15:34:22 PDT |
