Distant calls audible.
Only one group but the A30s are making life interesting.. It seemed like they were going to make it through Blackney but they turned and went back to the north and now we are hearing distant calls in Johnstone Strait. Dis they make it by going Weynton Passage? We will soon find out when the calls get louder. Helena 01 Sep 2012 23:42:27 PDT |

Orcas near mics.
The A30s have finally committed themselves to coming south through Blackney Pass. The tide will turn in their favour in about an hour. Helena 01 Sep 2012 22:34:13 PDT |

No orcas present.
The I15s may be going through Queen Charlotte Strait with the whale watch boats. They are well past Lizard Point now. No one has seen the A30s as of yet. Perhaps last night the I15s and the A30s went west after returning to the Strait via Blackney and this morning the I15s went through Weynton Pass to Queen Charlotte and the A30s did the same through Blackney Pass. No calls but orcas nearby
The A30s curled around the eastern end of Hanson Island to come into Blackney Pass and head north to Blackfish Sound. Helena 01 Sep 2012 08:07:05 PDT |

Except for the dolphins it was a fairly quiet night after the I15s and A30s went through Blackney Pass before midnight. Just now, there are A1 calls in Johnstone Strait so perhaps the whales are coming back. CP also has reported that a smal group , one male, is headed down Hanson Island toward them.
