Multiple pod calls audible. What a morning! Starting at 7am whales came through Blackney Pass and into Johnstone Strait. Among were the A36s. Al the groups then milled off of Blackney Pass until they began to come into Blackney Pass. It was a slo, against the tide entry. And they were in mixed groups. Eventually we could account for the A30s, A8s and I15s. There was a lot of stop and start as they foraged through Blackney Pass. The last I15 groups only just cleared into Blackfish Sound as they has stalled in Blackney while they foraged. The A36s, meanwhile, stayed in Johnstone Strait and went east from Cracroft Point. They have been pretty quiet. Helena & Co 09 Sep 2012 11:51:11 PDT |
Multiple pod calls audible. After the A30s went faded off before 4am in Johnstone Strait, there was a sudden burst of calls on Parson Island! The whales were off the entrance way to Blackney Pass. And now it looks like they are considering coming into Blackney Pass. Helena 09 Sep 2012 08:17:59 PDT |
Distant calls audible. The A30s began calling again after a break of about 4 hours. They are still in Johnstone Strait. Helena,Kirsty & Gigi 09 Sep 2012 04:07:46 PDT |
