Distant calls audible.

At 9:45pm we began to hear the same groups, the A30s, I15s and A8s back in Johnstone Strait. There is very heavy boat noise so their location is not immediately clear. The calls are coming through the boat noise fairly clearly. The dolphins were very chatty too until someone produced some seriously heavy slaps on the water!

Orcas near mics.

My goodness! We just had a beautiful pass-by from the orcas. The A30s led the way. A30 was between her two sons. The others wove their way through the dolphins. The I27s were our side of mid channel and then the A8s came by with the I51s close to the Lab. The rest of the I15s were scattered over on the other side also trying to get along with the dolphins. The light was wonderful too.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A30s are trying but struggling a bit to make headway against the tide.

The A30s are moving into Blackney Pass after stalling their western movement off of CP. The others continued west.

Multiple pod calls audible.

The A5s, A30s and the I15s have made slow and steady progress "up" Johnstone Strait. The I27s followed by A39 crossed the entrance to Blackney a short while ago and are now headed west up the Hanson Island shore..

Multiple pod calls audible.

The A30s arrived off of Critical Point a short while ago. We are also hearing A5s and I15s calls. The whales are spread from Robson Bight and east of Critical Point.

Distant calls audible.

We're hearing distant calls on the Rubbing Beach hydrophone. Sounds like at least some of the orcas who travelled east earlier today are returning.

Guardian the HB just breached 50m off the Lab after restfully traveling north! Calm and foggy morning here in Blackney.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

The A30s and I15s have reached the rubbing beaches, have become very vocal again, after the boat noise (cruise ship) passed.

Distant calls audible.

We think the I15s and the A30s eventually went off to the west. They may have even dipped into Weynton Pass. It sounds like they are coming back east, perhaps on the farside so far, opposite the entrance to Blackney Pass.
