Superb sounds!! The A30s & A5s are making their way east in Johnstone Strait towards the Reserve. We're hearing their lovely calls on the Critical Point hydrophone. Helena 19 Aug 2012 19:41:25 PDT

Boat noise That was lovely, but a cruise ship is about to enter Johnstone Strait from Blackney Pass. That will probably end things for now, & besides, there was already increasing boat noise in the Strait. Ah well. Helena 19 Aug 2012 15:39:18 PDT

Distant calls audible. We're starting to hear calls on the Rubbing Beach hydrophone, as the orcas (A30s & A5s) make their way back to the west. They are on the Cracroft Island side of the Strait, so if they don't cross to the VI side, there's a good chance CP will see them.. and if they come close close enough to CP, maybe they'll make an appearance on the underwater camera: http://orcalabunderwater.click2stream.com  Helena 19 Aug 2012 14:20:09 PDT

Trying to follow the radio reports: Possible transient whales off Escape Reef (this is the Mainland side east of West Cracroft Island. And resident whales on the other side of the Strait between the Eve River and Naka Creek heading west. Possibly more Transients near kelsey Bay. The T2Cs were just mentioned.
