Orcas hunting fish.

Maybe, just maybe these whales have turned back to Robson Bight? If so they can't have gone very far to the west.

Superb sounds!!

Sounds like the whales have made their way back to Robson Bight. Nice close A30 calls and echo location. The a23s and A25s have been with the A30s all day.

Distant calls audible.

Incredible thunder & lightning storm has just passed us. Orcas who were calling went silent during it. Storm has passed & orcas are calling again, the A5s heading from CP towards the A30s, who are westbound at Kaikash.

The A30s began to call as they move east toward the Reserve are. We still have yet to hear the A5s but the radio reports have them there.

No calls but orcas nearby

The whales may have moved on more quickly than last reported. Another radio report says there is a group of 7 by Izumi Rock (west of the Reserve) and another group off Kaikash Creek.

No calls but orcas nearby

The whales are on their way back to the east. From the radio reports they may have gone as far as Telegraph Cove. They are using both sides of the Strait on their return and some are as far east as Big Bay. Fog is still thick and there have been no calls, even on the turn.

On another note: we have not clearly heard the A23/A25s since about 11pm. This morning has all been A30 calls. This doesn't necessarily mean the two groups have split but it is interesting.

Orcas near mics.

CP like us here in Blackney Pass are surrounded by fog. As we listen they managed to see 4 orcas headed to the west past them just a short while ago.

Just now, we're hearing A1 calls and echolocation in Robson Bight, sounds like the A30s. Earlier, around 6am we heard calls on the rubbing beach hydrophone.

Distant calls audible.

A little bit of the A30s, at first distant just after 4am and then one call a little closer. Quite a bit of intermittent dolphin chatter off the CP area. Earlier we had the impression the A30s and A5s had approached Robson Bight from the west just before 12am.
