Boat noiseI think we have caught our breath and had our breakfast too! It has been quite the morning! So to summarize: Part of the I15s (the I27s) came into Blackney Pass before 11am. They were followed by the A23s who were being followed by A39. It was a sweet pass. All the groups were mid channel and in the morning light were very lovely. The I16s were next. They were the most spread out and difficult to account for everyone. A61 and A85 came after a short while and they were followed by the rest of the A30s and I15s (the I4s). Whew! But really nice. After calling in Blackfish Sound they too soon disappeared out of our range. Meanwhile, the Cliff reported that there had been 500 dolphins in the Strait - no word on where they ended up.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

Some of the orcas are rubbing, no calls yet so we don't know who.

Superb sounds!!

Sounds like the whales are moving back to towards Robson Bight again. Lovely clear calls after boat noise from a cruise ship heading north.

Orcas near mics.

The close calls are the very energetic dolphins in Robson Bight. There are distant orcas who are proving a challenge to track. They returned to critical Point and eventually the entrance of Blackney Pass before the slack flood tide just a short while ago.
