Another update from Jared Towers. :at 5pm the A34s were off the Port Hardy airport. At that time the A30s were already east bound near Blinkhorn. Jared also told us that A73 was in Camaano Sound a week ago with A11 & A56. She was looking well.

No calls but orcas nearby The A30s are continuing east. At 5:25pm they were passing Kaikash Creek and by 5:9pm they were 1/2 way between Kaikash and Izumi Rock. Helena 26 Aug 2012 18:22:54 PDT |
Distant calls audible. We can offer another update : Jared Towers reports the A23s,A25s and the A35s are off Scarlett Point (this means the report of the A25s being east will need to be revised). The I15s Jared further reports are off Round Island (near Port Hardy) and the T109s are in Goletas Channel - lots of residents and lots of Bigg's orcas too! The T2Cs carried on west and crossed into mid strait before disappearing. The A30s have continued west along the Vancouver Island shore and T 11 and T11A were recently visiting Alert Bay. Superb sounds!! Here is good news! The A34s have come back! They rushed through Blackney Pass at 12:15am and began calling soon after arriving in the Strait. They have kept calling through the boat noise - the Alaskan fishing fleet has been going through since yesterday. Tomorrow we may find out if A12 is with these guys. We lost track of the A30s and the I15s when they were opposite the Reserve earlier yesterday evening. Helena 26 Aug 2012 01:16:34 PDT |
