Orcas near mics. Finally the I15s have sorted themselves out enough to move west with the A4s (A24s). They are back off the Robson Bight area.

Distant calls audible.

We're hearing distant "A" as well as I15 calls on the rubbing beaches hydrophone, and think that the orcas who headed east earlier may be coming back to the west.

Distant calls audible.

We are still hearing faint I15 calls east of the east end of the Reserve and believe that they might be continuing east from there.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

Some of the orcas (A4s) have reached the rubbing beaches, and others (I15s) are still in Robson Bight. The movement is generally to the east, though it's possible things will change after the rub(s).

No calls but orcas nearby

Time to catch up: The I15s,A24s,A43s/A85 turned approximately 12:30pm when spread out off Beaver Cove. They are now between Kaikash and Izumi Rock heading east quickly but foraging as they go. Most of the A43s were closest to CP when they passed but A60 was probably further ahead of them mid strait. Lots of humpback activity in Blackney Pass.

Distant calls audible.

And up the Strait they went! The A24s passed CP, perhaps with a young I15 male. They travelled over to the Hanson Island shore. More whales should be coming along as well. Viibility improving.

Sounds like the I15s and otheres are also on their way back to this area. We are hearing calls off the east end of the Reserve.
