Multiple pod calls audible.
This is not sorted yet. A1,A4,A5 from Blackfish "met" A1,A4,A5,I15 from Johnstone Strait. All in Blackney. The groups moving north seemd to get the upper hand and the others moved back to Blackfish. But this is not over yet. They were very excited to get together on this incredibly beautiful moon night. And right in the middle of this was a humpback breathing very, very hard near the Parson Island as the whales came in.station.

As the A24s, A8s and I15s merge somewhere off the CP/Kaikash Creek we are hearing A5 calls in Blackfish Sound. Whales coming back?

Orcas approaching Orcalab.
The A24s passed here a short while ago after foraging nearby and then porpoising to the west. Marie at the cliff had a mix match of A11, A56 and her babe as well as A61 and A28 earlier, but they have crossed the strait since then. They are now with the rest of the A8s at Kaikash, heading west. KC the HB just passed CP heading east just now. Beautiful sunny day and evening with flat calm seas!!

Distant calls audible.
a little while ago we heard A5 calls on RB hydrophone. This must be the A8s who were reported east part of the Strait this morning. The A36s calls are still on CP hydrophone.

No calls but orcas nearby
This morning has been quite the mixer with most of the matrilines splitting into smaller families and/or individuals wjilst making their way around the area. It started with A46 following on his own behind the I15s up into Blackney Pass in the fog this morning. A12 and A37 headed past CP about a half hour behind but kept heading west in JS. Then A54 and A38 made a pass with A52 and her young one just behind. A39 wasn't too far behind with A93 tucked close to his side. Finally, Springer tight to Sunny,(A70) and her babe trailed closely behind. Then they all fished the Hanson Island shoreline before heading up Blackney with the rest of the A30s and the A43s that had just crossed from the Vancouver Island side of the Strait. A report came through Marie on the cliff that the A8s were to the east at Camp Pt. and westing earlier this morning. 2+ of the A4s are at Kaikash now and heading east. Not quite sure who they are, but possibly some of the A24s...they have yet to be seen today?.

The I15s went North through Blackney Pass in the fog. When the fog cleared, A46 by himself followed them to the North. We are waiting for A37 and A12 who must be coming into Blackney soon. Seems like more whales approaching CP.

After a few indecisive movementsts between Critical Point and the east end of the Reserve the I15s and now A4s are back nearer to Robson Bight. This might be a trend back to the west. Foggy morning.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

The I15s are still rubbing, there's an A1 group nearby, possibly the A36s, and no calls in Robson Bight at the moment.

Boat noise

Not there's boat noise in the Strait and also Blackfish Sound. Heard some echolocation in Robso Bight a short while ago, so at least some of the orcas are there. Fog is rolling in, after a lovely rosy dawn.
