No calls but orcas nearby
Funny exercise trying to follow the whales acoustically today. The last calls, the A5s, were distant in johnstone strait. Just before these were heard several people heard blows in Blackney Pass. just a bit confusing so we will see. The last visual report we had was at 8pm when the A4s and A5s were just east of Cracroft Point camp. We want more clues!

No calls but orcas nearbyStriatwatch reported to CP that at about 4:40pm the whales were eastbound from Blinkhorn after crossing over from Hanson Island. They are eastbound and not very vocal - been the story of the day. Visibility is very poor,rain,mist,fog.... nice for the garden.

Distant calls audible. Just in from the Lukwa - A46 is off Bold Head. The sleepy A4s and a5s disappeared to the west about an hour ago. We are hearing distant calls now in Johnstone Strait so perhaps those sleepy whales are waking up in time for some company! Helena 21 Aug 2011 16:00:42 PDT
