We are not able to stream live audio at the moment, but hope to solve the problem soon (hopefully, by tomorrow). Please excuse the inconvenience.

Orcas near mics.

We're hearing echolocation on the Critical Point hydrophone, along with close and distant calls. Sounds like the A30s & quite possibly the A12s are in or near Robson Bight, heading west.

No calls but orcas nearby

These are very silent westbound whales! The A36s are now off the Entrance to Blackney Pass and it might be the A12s following. Resting.

The A36s and the A12s are continuing to the west. No sign of the A30s.

Distant calls audible.

Sounds like the A30s have re-emerged off the east end of the Ecological Reserve. We had thought we had heard them prior to the A36s and the A12s close to Critical Point just after 7am but then only the A12s and the A36s came west. They are off the western end of Hanson island now.

The A30s continued west and once opposite the entrance to Blackney Pass, entered the pass and are nor heading north to Blackfish Sound. The A34s went west to Weynton Pass with A46. A46 turned back to the Strait before too long and the A34s followed him back. Not sure where the other two A36s were at this time but the A34s and A46 are eastbound. The A30s are surrounded by dolphins as they head north.

It turns out that the A34s did not fully return to Johnstone Strait. They are still in Weynton Passage with A12. The A30s are in Blackfish Sound now. Not sure where the A36s are now.

Sounds like the A30s made it back to Johnstone Strait after all.

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.

The A30s have moved on to the beaches. Meanwhile, there are very humpback like sounds near to Robson Bight every so often.

Distant calls audible.

The A1 calls are now very distant as the whales travel further eastward from the east end of the Ecological Reserve.
