No orcas present.

We did not hear anything overnight. It was windy overnight and still is this morning so lots of water (wave) sounds.

Orcas hunting fish.

Suddenly, after a silent night & morning, we're hearing echolocation on the Critical Point hydrophone!

Multiple pod calls audible.

It sounds like the groups are on their way back. The Cliff reports that the A12s are mid strait, spread out, heading west. we have heard I15s and probably i31 calls as well.

No calls but orcas nearby

For a while it looked as if the groups would turn back to the east. Instead, they went against the flooding tide and left Johnstone Strait via Weynton pass. They were very spread out around 3pm. At that time, there was a repot of 10 orcas heading east from bere point in Queen Charlotte Strait.

Superb sounds!!

Time to catch up: After 2pm, the whales were spread out from beaver Cove to the entrance of Weynton Pass. They looked like they might turn to the east but instead went against the tide and at least some ended up off of Mitchell Bay by 4:30pm. This was after a report of a group coming east from Bere Point at 3pm. Around 5pm, the whales took the unusual route through Pearse Passage back to Johnstone Strait and after a long run eastward, the I15s, I31s and As are back in the Bight.
