Orcas near mics.

At about 4am we began to hear distant calls in Johnstone Strait. Both A30 and I15s were heard. This has continued to the present. By now, the A30s and I15s have moved closer to the Ecological Reserve. Reports yesterday had the I15s to the west and the A30s to the east so perhaps they two groups re-united this morning in Johnstone Strait and are now travelling together.

The whales (I15s) are back in range.

No orcas present.

As far as we know, the I15s went past the Cliff at 6:18pm, after which their calls became distant and infrequent.

No calls but orcas nearby

We are hearing blows in Blackney Pass. Sounds like someone is headed southward.

Distant calls audible.

The whales in Blackney Pass turned out to be the I15s. At first it seemed like they were moving into the Pass from the west but now the calls and the blows have moved into Blackfish Sound (along with a "picked-up" radio signal).
