Superb sounds!!
We just had the I15s go through Blackney Pass very spread out. They are all in Blackfish Sound now. This begs the question as to where are the A34s? Did they continue east from the Bight earlier this afternoon?

Orcas near mics.
The I15s are now off Cracroft Point. They had been along with the A34s resting and moving toward Robson Bight.

No calls but orcas nearby
The I15s and the A34s never made it into Blackney Pass but turned while off the entrance back to the east. Their calls have subsided so perhaps they are having an afternoon siesta. Meanwhile, the A42s and A46 are still very far east but a bit more energetic travelling against the current. They were reported by Aaron to be off Rock Bay at 2:49pm.

We are still hearing the A34s off the east end of the Reserve. In summary, the I15s came into the area ahead of the A34s but chose to travel through Weynton Pass. They entered Johnstone Strait at 9:19pm. Jim Borrowman saw them enter and we picked up their calls about ten minutes later. They then proceeded eastward. By the time they were off the entrance to Blackney Pass (Strait side) the A34s were making their way into Blackney Pass. It was a slow procession. The I15s carried on towards Robson Bight and on to the Beaches and beyond. The A34s took the rest of the early morning to do the same. They went for a very brief rub at the main beach. The tide is now in flood. No idea what happened to the bigger group from yesterday

The orcas continue to call and are now heading to rubbing beach. Hopefully we will hear them rub! Outstanding morning at the lab as a humpback was feeding just off the lab deck.

We have calls on the Critical Point hydrophone and we're hearing distant calls further east at the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve. A busy but never the less wonderful night at Orcalab!
