No calls but orcas nearby
We had several groups pass through to the north. The passes were timed about 5-10 minutes apart. We believe the I15s have travelled to Blackfish Sound now. We did not see the A42s nor the A36s at this time. H & OL 28 Jul 2014 21:13:01 PDT |

We're now hearing some of the I15s on Parson Island after some other I15s moved on into Blackfish sound. Hopefully we'll have another orca visit this evening! Molly 28 Jul 2014 20:24:52 PDT |

Well! We had been following the reports of the A5 group off Turn Point, then the Stephansons, then Bauza and finally Wastells through the morning. Pretty foggy conditions but by 11:15am these whales were eastbound. Just as they approached Kaikash the fog lifted from Blackney Pass and we could see a group of orcas on the far side heading south. We believe they were part of the I15s. A second group came by more mid channel. We are reviewing the pictures to see if it was the rest of the I15s( plus) or another group entirely. The whales didn't help acoustically to provide clues. There were a few I15 calls from the first group, some of whom cut in close to the CP platform. Helena 28 Jul 2014 13:30:19 PDT |

There was a report that the orcas were Turn Point (the west in Johnstone Strait) around 9:20am. Thanks for the report! OL Crew 28 Jul 2014 11:27:32 PDT |

Orcas near mics.
Someone from the A5s is passing fairly close to cracroft Point at the moment. We had the impression that the whales this morning were westbound from the eastern end of the Reserve. OL Crew 28 Jul 2014 08:31:19 PDT |

We are hearing the A5 and the I15 calls. Sounds like they are the east end of the Reserve and heading east in Johnstone Strait. Momoko 28 Jul 2014 03:41:46 PDT |

It's a very busy night here at the lab! A group came into Blackney then decided to turn back around. They are currently calling in Blackfish sound. The group in Johnstone strait continues to be quiet. Unfortunately, the boat noise is quite loud tonight. Molly and Emily 28 Jul 2014 01:18:01 PDT |

Part of the rush is still in Blackney Pass. They are vocal and the others who we believe have already made it to the Strait have gone quiet. OL 28 Jul 2014 00:59:24 PDT |

First of all the A5s did follow the I15s into Blackfish Sound earlier and just now the groups have rushed back to the south and reentered Johnstone Strait. OL 28 Jul 2014 00:45:14 PDT |
