No orcas present.
Here is how things stand at the present. We learned earlier that the A23/25s were found off Hickey Point. The must have travelled back east after Andrew's sighting at 10pm off Weynton Island. The night had been filled with dolphins so maybe the A23s/A25s were able to transit east undetected. We have not heard the A34s/A46 or the A24s return west after their afternoon travel past the Reserve. lastly part of the I11s also travelled east past the Reserve this evening. We lost track of the G2s/27s after they went west through Blackfish Sound. They had been accompanied by I42 who is from a different part of the I11s than the ones who made it into Johnstone Strait. I am sure we will find out more eventually. The night is young.

Wow! Another busy busy day. . . After A46 and the A34s came through Blackney CP saw them around 1pm in the Strait. An hour later we got word of more orcas headed east in Blackfish Sound. It turned out to be the A24s and the G2s and G27s. The A24s made a straight pass through to Johnston Strait but the G2s/G27s went back and forth twice and eventually ended up clearing back to the north. As the "As" continued east the Gs formed into a resting line. The A34s are currently at the Main Rubbing beach. The amazing part of all of this is that accompanying the Gs was an individual male who we think was I42. The Lukwa had the same impression. I42 belongs to the I11s, go figure. The Naiad may have identified the G16s in Weynton Pass at the time the other Gs were in front of us. Whew! Stand by, more to come.

A46 led the way. They (he and the A34s) are all headed toward Johnstone Strait now. Still calling. Very misty out there today, laundry wet on the line!

Boat noise
That pesky boat noise is on again early this morning as the sports fishers move about. But we also have news of returning orca. Not sure yet but through the mist in Queen Charlotte Strait Kate saw orcas heading east. They left her sight at 6:20am. She heard A1 calls and others. Meanwhile, we continued to listen to dolphins, last heard on Flower Island in Blackfish Sound.

The chatty dolphins have been nice to listen to! Sounds like a fair sized group. For the record Andrew wrote at 10:19pm: Update to last report. Orcas (?A23/25s) travellimg west and angling toward Weyton Passage with some already by the reefs.
