No orcas present.

We've heard no calls since around 11:30pm last night, and think the A23s headed east after their rub. As so often lately, we are waiting. Meanwhile, we're enjoying a lovely sunny morning with a flat calm ocean.

Boat noise

A few developments are in the works this morning. The A23s wer located off of Camp Point around 10am. An hour late they were off kelsey Bay heading west quickly. At the other end of the core area a group of 12 orcas were spotted off of Black Bluff heading east. This group is said to consist of at least the A24s and the A25s. They are currently off Lizard Point and still coming toward Donegal Head! Fairly soon we will be able to put them on the map.

The A25s and the A24s have just entered Johnstone Strait after coming through Weynton Pass.

Distant calls audible.

The eastbound orcas are at Izumi Rock, close to Vancouver island, and are now audible on the Critical Point hydrophone. Meanwhile, the westbound orcas are at Eve River, with some distance to go before they are in range of our hydrophones.

These A5 and A4 calls are still off the east end of the Ecological Reserve. Sounds like they are still involved at the beaches. We believe that the A23s made it up to the others before 7pm. Marie saw two males waiting offshore of the beaches at one point and so thought that the A23s were there.

Distant calls audible.

These very distant A4 (A24s) and A5 (A23s and A25s) calls are still off the far eastern end of the Ecological Reserve. Right now it seems as if they might be continuing to the east. The tide however is in ebb.
