Distant calls audible.
Mostly we are hearing distant A1 calls as whales approach the eastern boundary from the east. However, someone, in the lead, came in close to the rubbing beaches and had a rub. We lost track of the C6s completely by 11:30pm when there were just a few calls, a postscript to their distant calls that ended previously at 8:47pm. We think they went to the west, possibly even out.

Superb sounds!!
The A12s have reached Robson Bight, lovely calls, a little fishing, no boat noise, quite wonderful.

No orcas present.
Earlier, both the A12s and the A36s came west from the east end to the Bight starting at 2:29am. The session was quite nice until the loud boat noise overtook the recording. After which, the calls became distant as the whales continued west. Around 6am, we could hear them off the entrance to Blackney Pass, still in Johnstone Strait, perhaps closer to Vancouver Island. We lost them at 6:42am not too much further west.

No calls but orcas nearby
An added note: The A12s and A36s are moving out through Weynton Passage now after leaving Johnstone Strait. Perhaps we will hear them when they reach the other side, Blackfish Sound.

Distant calls audible.
A short while ago we began to hear the whales as they crossed the "top" (west) end of Blackfish Sound after coming through Weynton Pass

Thanks Kate, good to know where the A12s and A36s were at 6:30pm (Berre Point/Queen Charlotte Strait.). Too bad they were west bound but it sounds like they had a good day fishing all the same. Also, Sally was just here. Nice to see her and we hope the rest of her stay aboard the Odyssey goes well. Friendly group.
