No orcas present.
We heard no calls overnight, & think the A36s & A12 are probably somewhere to the east of us. We are waiting.

No calls but orcas nearby
There is a new incoming group! No positive ids yet but a fisherman reported orcas off of Donegal Head headed to Blackfish Sound. The whale watch boats have arrived on scene and think that the whales are pointing toward Weynton Pass. A group of dolphins came into Blackney Pass just after the orca report. They were vocal. A12 and the brothers are near Kelsey Bay.

Orcas hunting fish.
We heard a burst of close echolocation on the Critical Point hydrophone a few minutes ago... sounds like the orcas are grabbing a bite in the Bight!

Orcas rubbing on the shore bottom.
Someone sounds like they got to the beaches, no calls just yet!

No orcas present.
We now know (thanks to Jared Towers and Marie Fournier) that A11, A56 and A73 travelled in today with the A8s. A56 has a new baby! but sadly A13 is missing. They all continued east out of the Ecological Reserve after each group had a silent rub at the beaches. At 7pm A12 and the A36s were seen headed into Nodales Channel. A beautiful minke whale also came in close to CP while Paul and Fiona were there. What a nice day!
