Distant calls audible.
After a night of distant A1 calls fluctuating between the area offshore of the east end of the Ecological Reserve and Boat Bay, we are again hearing their calls east of the Ecological Reserve.

We believe the A30s went west in Johnstone Strait today. Meanwhile, a group of transients became vocal in Blackfish Sound as the residents were moving westward. The transients dropped into Blackney Pass and made a bid for Johnstone Strait. The A1s are still vocal in the Stait.

Just got word from Jared Towers that the transients today were the very rare T36s travelling along with the T99s. There are two new calves in the group plus a previous calf. So this was exciting as they were vocal in Blackfish Sound and this is the first time DFO has had a chance to document the new calves in this unusual encounter. The transients circled around Hanson Island back to Blackfish Sound. Jared left them in Weynton Passage. Jared also confirmed that all the A1s were in the Strait, now heading back eastward with dolphins and Dalls Porpoise all around them. A humpback with sea lions completed the report.
