Distant calls audible.

They be back! We just recently heard A1 calls in Johnstone Strait! Not sure where to place them yet but we are recording.

Sounds like (?the A36s) are near Robson Bight.

Distant calls audible.

We are waiting to figure out if the whales are going to continue eastward or not. A12 is with the A36s (confirmed by the Lukwa) and last seen off the Bight. At that time A12 looked asif she was still interested in going east and the "boys" were favouring the west.

Orcas near mics.

The A30s just rushed through Blackney Pass toward Johnstone Strait! They breached twice in their excitement to be back.

No calls but orcas nearby

Here's a twist. As the A1s continued to be vocal in Johnstone Strait, we began to hear calls in Blackfish Sound just before 6pm. We had heard from Jim Borrowman that there were blows off Lizard Point at 4pm so we wondered if there were new incoming. But we were not prepared for southern residents to show up. Jared Towers followed them in and identified them as part of the Ls. This group (20 strong) moved into Blackney Pass and tried to make headway against the current and tide. The A1s became quiet just about this time in Johnstone Strait. The Ls never made it through (at least not yet) . The tide has pushed them back almost to Blackfish Sound.
