Orcas near mics.

Sounds like the A34s (and A46) are thinking about heading east through Blackfish Sound. Meanwhile, at 9:08pm Tenacious III reported that the A23s/25s got to Windy Point and then turned west. So it might get busy.

We heard the A call around 5:36 pm. Not sure where the location was. Kate reported that the A34s and the A46 passed Bere Point at 5:11 pm and headed to the east. Thank you for the report, Kate!

No orcas present.

As the A23s and A25s continue eastward (they went through the Reserve and carried on) we have been trying to sort out the happenings from earlier this morning. We were listening to the A23s and A25s past midnight at which time they seemed to be still closer to the Bight. But "CP" (Megan and Megan) were woken up by loud "A" calls just before 2am. They went outside and heard blows off the entrance to Blackney Pass closer to the Hanson Island shore. These blows went off to the west. A while later (2:20am) they became aware of more blows favouring the Cracroft side of mid strait opposite the Baron Reefs. Five mites later these blows were opposite them and continuing to the west. We think that these were the A23s and A25s beginning their circuit around Hanson Island. We saw them complete this circle at 7am when they went back to the Strait via Blackney Pass. No sign of the other group. Love it that there is a mystery for the day!

Whales from the east! Arriving just now at Critical Point, Robson Bight. Most likely the A23s/A25s.

No orcas present.

From Jake Etzkorn in lower Johnstone Strait for yesterday afternoon: "Busy evening at Chatham - Yogi (as identified by Nick the whale watcher) performed a series of breaches (10 in all) across the mouth of Nodales Ch. then continued west. Meanwhile the A23's and 25's traveled down from Ripple Point, crossed over to E. Thurlow and eventually headed up Nodales Ch. after a bit of feeding."

We know, thanks to Kate, that the A34s with A46must have left Johnstone Strait (most likely via Weynton Pass) and headed into Queen Charlotte Strait. Kate reports that they passed Bere Point to the west about 1/2 hour ago. Thanks Kate!

Sounds like the A34s have come back from the east. Someone touched in briefly at the Main beach and then carried on to the west arriving shortly at Critical Point. The A24s were last seen continuing westward in Queen Charlotte Strait earlier today. beautiful evening and now orcas too.

We are hearing some echolocation and calls. Sounds like the orcas are near the Bight. Apparently, very loud tug boat is westing in the Johnstone Strait.
