No orcas present.

It has been quite the day! Really the start to the orca summer season as the A23s and A25s made it into the area and were found by Bill Mackay this morning off Donegal Head. From there they proceeded slowly to the west. They just may have been the orcas who passed north through Blackney Pass earlier and not Bigg's as we first thought. Later in the day, Jared Towers and the "Raven" reported seeing the T152s and T28s in Queen Charlotte Strait. With them was a very young baby and Jared remarked that they were an unusual group in this area. So lots happening. We were kept busy for the rest of the day with dolphins and humpbacks. Wondering what the night will bring?

We were just leaving the "opening Meeting" in Telegraph Cove when we heard that there were Northern Residents in Queen Charlotte Strait. Apparently they had begun to move eastward from Hardy Bay around 1:30pm (Donna Mackay). They managed to get to Bere Point in the evening and Kate reported they went in for a rub at 8:45pm. After that the trail went cold. We did not hear anything over night despite the hydrophones and ourselves (albeit a little tired) cranked up. This morning dolphins (about 100) went through Blackney to the north.
