Distant calls audible.

A short while ago the A30s began calling once again in Johnstone Strait.

Superb sounds!!

We had a report earlier (19:50) of ten whales coming out the bottom of Weynton Pass. The assistants at Cracroft Point also saw two whales heading west towards Weynton. On the hydrophones we are now hearing the A30's as well as the I15's. They are slowly making their way back east. It looks like it will be another busy night.

The A30s just went north through Blackney Pass, quite spread out and doing serious fishing along the way. The I15s meanwhile are easting in the Strait from Kaikash Creek.

The A30s are a little vocal now as they continue to stall off of CP and the entrance of Blackney Pass. The I15s began to enter Johnstone Strait at 1pm. They are headed east.

No calls but orcas nearby

Very quiet: The I15s and the A30s bot went west this morning. The I15s went through Weynton Pass just before 11am. The A30s turned back to the east and before noon they were reapproaching the entrance of Blackney Pass from Big Bay. They are in front of CP now. They are with a group of dolphins. They I15s meanwhile also turned after getting almost to Donegal Head. They are going through Weynton Pass headed to Johnstone Strait. Meanwhile, we had reports of whales in Nodales Channel at 8:20 am and then a Ripple Point report at 10:15am.

The A30s & possibly others went west past CP in the fog around 7:30am. We think they're now in western Johnstone Strait, but aren't sure. Fog is clearing.

Superb sounds!!

Robson Bight is teaming with marine life this morning. Fish are burping, numerous dolphins are chattering and the I15s and A30s are making intermittent calls.

Finally, a shift to the west. These A1 (?A30) calls are now closer to the area off Robson Bight. The boat noise is also there.

Distant calls audible.

Interesting evening - all, with the exception of the dolphins in Blackney Pass - of what we have heard has been at the far eastern end of the Reserve and beyond. Recently, it has been the I15s who have waxed and waned off of the Rubbing beaches. Before, there were As, including at the start clearly A30 calls.

We're hearing the A30s coming back from a brief trip to Kelsey Bay, where they were reported to be at around 6pm. They are now at the eastern end of the Ecological Reserve, heading west.

The A30s are moving east again past Critical Point - very indecisive!

Now the A30s are moving back west at Critical Point - thanks again Marie! We can still hear i15s and A4s east of the Reserve.

Sorry, I now have better info on the A30s thanks to Marie who is right there on the Cliff (thank goodness for the Warden programme). The A30s came east mid strait from CP after entering Johnstone Strait. When opposite the Cliff they angled to Cracroft Island at Swaine Point. At the time of the calls they were crossing the Strait, angling toward the beaches. A38 and A39 however were foraging off by themselves all over the place.

The A30s are making their way back to the west. The I15s who were on the Rubbing Beaches a short while ago faded off. In the distance off the east end of the Reserve we could hear an occasional A4 call as well before the A30s made their presence known opposite the Bight.

Multiple pod calls audible.

So now we are hearing I15s in Johnstone Strait as well. Did they come in from Weynton Pass? Of the possible groups going "out" last night the A36s are the only group-so far- that we have not heard. There was a report of whales going into Nodales this morning and we wonder if this might be the A5s who we did not hear last night.

I needed to add that there were A4s just behind the A34s. Everyone is headed east now.

We just had a lovely pass from the A34s on the far side of Blackney Pass followed by the A30s on the Hanson Island side. They have moved into Johnstone Strait.
