No orcas present.

What a chilly few days here at the lab! The weather is glorious with blue skies and fantastic views of the snow capped mountains on Vancouver Island.

No orcas present.

No calls yet on this cloudy, drizzly day here on Hanson Island but we've got nice new windows to help keep us warm!

No orcas present.

No calls but a lovely morning on Hanson Island. The winds are calm and the sun is trying to win over the drizzle. Sea lions are growling as they shuffle around trying to get comfy.

No orcas present.

Another quiet, overcast day here on Hanson Island. No sign of humpbacks for a few days, we're thinking they may have moved to warmer waters.

No orcas present.

For the first time in a week we have an overcast day, and with it, warmer weather! There's a few extra sea lions on the rocks taking advantage of the warmer weather. Our second straight day with no humpbacks sadly.

No orcas present.

No orca calls but we've started the morning off with a beautiful sunrise and some humpback vocalizations on Parson Island. We haven't heard them in a while so this is a real treat!

No orcas present.

It's been a quiet couple of days at the lab. We last saw the orcas travelling east past the rubbing beaches on the 12th and haven't heard from them since. After sighting just one humpback yesterday afternoon, we've yet to see one today. Here's hoping they haven't all left us for warmer waters just yet!

The orcas passed the rubbing beaches and continued east down Johnstone Strait. We were able to see them for a few minutes on one of the RB cameras.

Distant calls audible.

What a beautiful yet frigid morning here at the lab. The chill doesn't seem to bother the G's though, we just started hearing them on Flower Island.

No orcas present.

Morning everybody! We had a quiet night here at the lab and haven't heard anything yet this morning. It sure is a beautiful day, though! There's a few humpbacks off in the distance and the steller sea lions are hauled out just down the way!

Going to turn off the camera, the day is well under way now. Those sea lions sure make the rocks look comfortable! The winds just starting to pick up from the northwest. Temperatures here on the west coast are going to begin to drop but the sun is also suppose to make an appearance in the next couple of days.

So glad David and Brittney heard the calls at 3am. Two hours in the middle of the night on a windy November day. Thanks you two! And thanks to the Gs for sticking around making it seem like years past when G clan made a habit of being here in the Fall to take advantage of the chum salmon run. It is going to be a lovely morning so just about to turn on the camera so you can see it too! Takes a moment to warm up. http://orcalab.click2stream.com
