Its a beautiful night at Orcalab! Two humpbacks, Guardian and Ridge are moving between Red Point and 2nd Bay. They are changing direction frequently and seem to be enjoying the calm water, taking a break and resting on the surface.

It has been a beautiful day here! The sun is shining and we welcomed Yvonne's help. She got great pictures of Inukshuk when just two hundred metres off the lab this morning. Guardian has also been in the Pass today. The sea lions were very curious when we were bucking winter wood on the beach and perhaps relieved when we stopped!

The sea lions are growling under a starry sky. Today Jackie told us that there are 15 humpbacks in the area. Five of these were near Blackney: Lucky, Ridge,Guardian,Inukshuk and Conger. So great to have these familiar acquaintances around.

No orcas present.

It's been a quiet few days here at the lab. We did catch the briefest glimpse of a Minke whale travelling south in Blackney Pass though! The storm seems to have blown itself out and it's a calm day here.

The Biggs who went through Blackney Pass this morning were T18 and T19s. (Thank you Jim!) And there were more than 90 sea lions on Hanson Island shore today. No Northern Residents, but still interesting what is going on around here.
