Distant calls audible.

There were a few Biggs calls at 0946 but they have been quiet since so I could not decipher where they were. Hopefully they speak up again!

It has been quiet cetacean wise the past week but the weather sure has been something to watch! It's been very sunny but freezing, down to minus 12, and now it's snowing and blowing 40 knots!!

No orcas present.

Susan kindly clarified the A8 sightings so I thought to repost it on this side so the record is clear! Thanks Susan, " Just to clarify, the last reported sighting of the A8's was Jan. 23rd in the Powell River fog. For days we were pea soup which finally lifted yesterday. No reports so far. Windy here too."

No orcas present.

Windy day here! Lori let us know that Susan Mackay is reporting that the A8s are still in the Powell River area. They have been there forever (since Christmas). Amazing! http://whalesanddolphinsofbc.blogspot.ca/2014/01/northern-resident-killer-whales-a842s.html

No calls but orcas nearby

At 9:30am this morning a group of orcas passed through Blackney Pass headed to Blackfish Sound. We think they may have been the C06s. Jared has been helping with the photo IDs. It has been a long time since they were last in this area so it was a great treat to see them. They most likely were the whales heard yesterday. They were virtually silent today. Beautiful sunny days here recently.

We passed the pictures from this afternoon on to Jared Towers who despite picture's low light confirmed that the male in the group was possibly T060C. Thanks Jared.
