Superb sounds!!

We are currently listening to the A30s on Critical Point. They were seen earlier this evening at Beaver Cove - they have apparently travelled east since then and are approaching the bight. Nice calls with little boat noise at the moment!

The T101s continued east past main rubbing beach and out of our camera view. Marie reported that the A30s turned at Blinkhorn and are almost at Telegraph Cove now.

Distant calls audible.

The A30s came back via Weynton Pass and Wayne on the Lukwa let us know when they entered. After they did so they headed across to the Blinkhorn area. Meanwhile, the T101s, who had come in via Blackney Pass continued east past CP, the Cliff and just now the rubbing beaches. A huge group of dolphins who were off Robson Bight earlier when the Bigg's entered Johnstone Strait had turned and quickly charged eastward. Unfortunately, a pleasure boat went in pursuit. This boat was very bad around the dolphins, chasing at high speed, changing direction etc. The Wardens had talked with the boat but they were unresponsive. The boat came back to opposite Robson Bight where they found the T101s and followed them. The Wardens talked with them again and this time they were more respectful of the whales and the people. The sun just came out!

No orcas present.

This morning the radio came to life with a report of a group of Bigg's orcas near the Pearse Reefs. Later Wayne on the Lukwa added to AJ's initial report by identifying them as the T101s. We heard the Bigg's may have got involved in a kill before moving on toward the Plumper Islands.

Pretty quiet night. This morning sea lions are hauling out on the Parson Island rock, no one on this side yet.

Orcas near mics.

We think the group of dolphins we saw on the rubbing beach camera east of the Reserve earlier this evening just before 6pm made it all the way to CP by 9:35 pm and then turned into Blackney where we can hear them now under a very starry sky.

Listening to a humpback in Blackfish Sound making a few vocals - sounding a bit thoughtful!

At 3:52pm the Bigg's orcas were off Weynton Island, heading west. Sounds like they are now going north towards Plumper Islands in Weynton Passage.

Sounds like the Bigg's orcas are continuing along the Hanson Island shore to the west. Meanwhile, almost an hour ago we heard a report via Marie that the Naiad Explorer found the A30s with others in the Pine Island area. Noticed that the Noordam also reported orca near Nigel Island around the same time. Thanks for the reports everyone! Also, there were plenty of dolphins around today. A group of 200 or so came into the entrance way of Blackney Pass and exited up Baronet Passage. Unfortunately, they attracted a lot of attention from several boats who were not always following the guidelines - really we need real regulations!!

We got a report that three orcas were off Boat Bay at 1:12pm. They kept going to the west. At 1:54pm they were off Pig ranch. Now we caught them on the Cracroft Point camera. Looks like they are off Baron Reef. No identification yet.

No orcas present.

We are not sure where the A30s ended up last night. They were last seen around 18:44 near The entrance of Blackney pass. No calls heard after that. Right now we are hearing Pacific white-sided dolphin calls on Local Left hydrophone.

At 14:15 we were hearing the A30s on our Rubbing Beach hydrophone and saw them on Rubbing Beach camera. And at 16:15 We heard echolocation on Critical Point. Possible A30s coming back from the east. Last we saw them heading west on our Robson Bight camera.

We caught them on the Cracroft Point surface camera. Looks like they are between Kaikash and Little Kaikash, very close to Vancouver Island side. Now we are hearing them on the Cracroft Point and Parson Island hydrophone.
