No calls but orcas nearby

Paul, Helena, Megan H & Chelsea are heading back to Hanson Island in the June Cove after a big town run and have possibly spotted the T55's heading west close to Alert Bay. How exciting!

As the sky begins to turn pink in Blackney Pass we think we have ID'd Ripple of one of the HB's that has been here all day. We are still waiting for a confirmation from Jackie. This whale and one other are now lunge feeding in Parsons Bay. A lovely day here in the lab and for the first time I'm wearing a coat! Thats how warm it has been! Have a lovely evening everyone!

GOOD MORNING. After a nice big downpour of rain Hanson Island is feeling very very happy. A glorious morning with light fog is leaving us with at least 3 Humpbacks in Blackney Pass. Guardian is here of course…more ID's are on there way!

No calls but orcas nearby

Marie at Eagle eye has reported via a whale watch source that the two Bigg's whales spotted earlier heading West in the Strait were in fact T125 & T127. Last report of them still westing estimated they may now be near Telegraph Cove. Meanwhile at the lab Black Pearl and Guardian are still here, Black Peal looking very sleepy and Guardian still looking as if she is foraging must be good fishing in Blackney Pass today!

Gorgeous day with news from CetaceaLab that the two favourites, A46 (Kaikash) and A73 (Springer + baby A104) have been seen together! Still a long way away but we have the company of Black Pearl (without Johnny Depp) and Guardian here in Blackney Pass.

No orcas present.

It has been a lovely day with rumours about northern residents still residing on the north coast. Hmmm. The T2Cs at noon were reported heading south off Powell River today. The sightings network is amazing. These whales have been sighted every day for the last while from Johnstone Strait to Georgia Strait. Thanks for passing on the Campbell River reports. Meanwhile Jackie was out and about checking on the humpbacks. We had Guardian and two others. Argonaut was reported in the area.

Should also mention that Marie passed along a sighting from Aaron who saw 8+ plus Bigg's early afternoon passing Kelsey Bay headed west at 10 knots (that is very fast). Thanks Aaron!

Been quite the Bigg's day in Johnstone Strait. The Robson Bight Wardens not only had a group of hunting Bigg's at daylight right by their camp (possibly the T2Cs) but they just now had 8 orcas again heading west past their camp. Some days are like that eh?

A quite afternoon at the lab today. A beautiful high tide and sunny weather. We had a humpback pec slapping in the gap earlier and a few more humpback sightings early in the morning. A handful of Dals Porpoise are currently making their way through Blackney Pass.
