The Pass is filled with 'trumpeting' humpbacks, under the starlit sky and Northern Lights. Sounds as they are once again surrounded by Steller sea lions. Neill, from the Island Odyssey, also reported orcas around Pine Island & Scarlett Point including the A30s today. Wonder what the morning has in store for us??  OL 08 Oct 2012 23:59:39 PDT

A third humpback, might have been Twister joined the other two in Blackney Pass. They have all cleared together back into Blackfish Sound. It is proving difficult to get good photos of the flukes as this small group is very social and barely breaking the surface at time. A lot of rolling around with sea lions bouncing all around too. We can hear nice calls from a Humpback in Blackney Pass and very distant A1 calls in Blackfish Sound about an hour after hearing the A36s at the entrance to Blackney Pass. Just as the A34s were travelling through Blackney Pass we (Marie at CP and us at the lab) heard distant calls on the Cracroft Island system. These persisted as the A34s grew fainter and fainter.
